Rising to the Challenge the Pluto Saturn Opposition cycle Aug. 2001 to June 2002

NEWS FLASH: GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD GAINS POWER – THE PEOPLE STAGE A REVOLT

The God of the Underworld is readying for a take over. The People Fear for their Safety. There’s TROUBLE with a captial T in River City, folks…..yep, you know how to spell it. It’s high time we called a town meeting. Are we strong enough to fight back? Can we tie ourselves to the railroad track and stop the train?

In actuality Saturn opposing Pluto is not really a hot news flash. The force has been building up and slowing us down for some time. Read the newspaper. Does anyone remember how to spell “contentment”?

Astrologically speaking Saturn represents society, our role models, the rules of the game, the logical, practical and tangible. In other words the square peg right where it should be in the square hole. Saturn traveling through Gemini now shows us how limited the format is. Just as we think we are coming up to speed Saturn traveling through the sign of Gemini points (somewhat painfully) to contradictions and dualities. It’s not as good as we thought it was gonna be. You can blame whomever you like, but in the final tally it all comes back to you. Each weak links diminishes the strength of the chain. The old taskmaster Saturn is showing us that the contemporary becomes antiquated even as we speak. We are applying the old rules to an emerging new game. No wonder it isn’t working well enough.

Saturn’s square peg has to change form in order to keep the world spinning/to fit into Pluto’s round hole. Astrologically Pluto represents the continual evolutionary process of becoming more than you already are. It’s what we are here to learn. And how can you do this when you’ve been trying to use permanent bond to stick consciousness together? Who said it was time to sit down and stay put?

When two planets oppose one another they reach the maximum polarity, seemingly working at cross-purposes. However, this is when we gain awareness. The obvious can no longer be ignored and a sense of urgency then leads to taking action. Over this next year, Pluto and Saturn will oppose each other three times. Aug. 5, Nov.2, and May 26, 2002. It isn’t an easy cycle. In fact it can be a difficult, even painful journey. Pluto opposing Saturn teaches us that there is no reason large enough to hold back. Time to question why you resist what you really want. Is it too hard? Are your belief systems limited? Are you unwilling to put yourself on the line?

The big lesson to learn now is that left-brain thinking (Saturn in Gemini) must align with and work through right brain creativity (Pluto in Sagittarius). The power is found lying within passion and the intuitive “feel”. You are only limited by what you believe is possible for you to achieve. You are the only one responsible for the rules you make. Courage rewarded by absolute control and self-autonomy is a glorious path to travel and well worth the effort. Tests and hard work are inevitable. On going suffering we can do without. Mediocrity or excellence - both require high maintenance. Which label do you choose to wear?

Use this demanding planetary cycle to prove to yourself that you have what it takes to move yourself down the road less travelled. One way or another you are in for a struggle. Why not aim for the best, aim for the most? You can have it if you want it. Acknowledge you haven’t come far enough but don’t let it stop you. Are you pleased with the world you live in? Your growth is the tool kit of the collective. Hear your own voice. See your footsteps in the sand. The power of one becomes the anchor of many.

….And by the way, find excuses to laugh a little more. Don’t let the wind get knocked out of your sails. Life is too short to take it all so seriously.
