Healing With Astrology, Part 3

Read Part One and Part two of article series.

Okay, so far we've looked at the importance of core beliefs in our lives. We can acquire core beliefs by 'osmosis" from parents, siblings, teachers and other important people in our lives. We can acquire them from life experiences: you know, the kind of experience that results in a declaration that "I'll NEVER do that again!" "I'll never trust another man/woman!" "I'll never go there again." Core beliefs are our personal book of rules about "The Way Things Are." We live our life according to these rules. Moreover, we vibrate our frequencies that match our core beliefs, and the frequencies we emit determine what kinds of experiences and people we attract into our lives.

The problems that arise in our lives are almost always attracted by the frequencies emitted when we hold negative core beliefs. And we have seen that "challenging" aspects and planetary placements can be interpreted as potential negative core beliefs. What makes this a great gift is two-fold. First, being able to identify negative core beliefs through the chart offers real ease of recognition. In most "therapies" or "healing modalities" core beliefs have to be ferreted out through a combination of questions, muscle checking and intuition. Second, with astrology we are not just identifying a core belief, we are identifying the archetype associated with that core belief. This makes it wonderfully clear what archetypal issues will need to be explored.

Now, what happens when we've used the chart to identify potential negative core beliefs? What avenues to healing are available?

When dealing with core beliefs there are actually quite a lot of options available for healing. Simply talking a problem/core belief over with an empathic friend can sometimes actually shift a core belief. Unconscious core beliefs, however, often require a healing session.

It is possible to work on core beliefs by using energy healing because energy healing shifts vibrations. Core beliefs are relatively vibration-specific. That means, a core belief can only exist within a relatively specific range of frequencies. Let us imagine, for the sake of an example, that all core beliefs exist within a range of 0 - 1000 Hz. Let us further imagine that all negative core beliefs, and their accompanying emotions, exist within a range of 0 - 400 Hz while all positive core beliefs and their emotions, exist from 600 - 1000 Hz. This means a person who keeps their overall level of vibrations around 300, cannot hold positive core beliefs. It also means that if a healing session raises that individual's overall frequency rate over 400 Hz, the person cannot hold their negative patterns any more.

So, since energy healing does raise vibrations, it can put a person into a high vibrational state in which negative core beliefs and negative emotions cannot intrude. IF the individual chooses to keep their vibrations high by consciously holding only positive thoughts and emotions, they will not revert to their old issues, problems and/or illnesses.

The forms of energy healing that are discussed below are those that I practice, or have experienced, or that Kay Meierbachtol practices.

Kay writes: I am a registered practitioner of Jin Shin Do (registred trademark - I don't know where that symbol is on this computer!) Bodymind Acupressure and I also use Craniosacral and Visceral techniques for psyche/soma integration, holding the space for clients to heal themselves.

Jin Shin Do uses gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points (M:the same points used by acupuncturists) together with Body Focusing techniques to help release armoring or chronic tension, and balance the Qi or energy. Developed by Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, this bodymind approach is a unique synthesis of a traditional Japanese acupressure technique, classic Chinese acutheory, Reichian segmental theory, Taoist philosphy and Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques). JSD promotes a pleasant trancelike state, in which one can move out of the head and into the body, accessing feelings and inner wisdom. "Jin Shin Do" means "The Way of the Compassionate Spirit". JSD focuses on the Five Elements as a way of understanding and accessing the energetic level at which body and mind meet in the material world at the organ meridian level. Working with energetic and emotional blocks can truly have miraculous effects.

Craniosacral work focuses at the structural/energetic level of interface in the body and uses listening to the "Breath of Life", or the life force as it moves in the body through extremely gentle finger pressure, to help the body release old physical and emotional trauma. Again, "listening" through this gentle hands on technique allows the body to realign at very deep levels, opening movement for the cranial/sacral interconnection and other structural blocks. Visceral work is similar, but focused on the organs in the body and any blocks to movement they might have. The Taoist approach to the Five Elements used in Jin Shin Do and Vedic Astrology's use of the Five Elements through the Ayurvedic medical reading of the body has produced profound insight for me, which I attempt to convey in my sessions with clients. It is ancient knowledge of the interconnection between the body and heavens in very practical application.

Marelon writes: I am a Reiki Master, initiated Huna healer (ancient Hawaiian spiritual system), and am trained in Holographic Repatterning and Body Talk. I am certified in Reconnection Healing, DNA/Theta Healing and Emotional Freedom Technique. I work with color, sound, and magnetics to balance chakras. I commonly use Polarity Therapy, Jin Shin Jitsu and basic Cranio-Sacral holds as part of a healing session. A client's body and energy tells me what it needs. I can "see" auras, chakras and other "structures" in the energetic bodies that let me know what to work on.

Reiki is a form of channeled healing energy. Reiki comes from Japan; the "ki" in Reiki means the same thing as "chi" in Tai Chi or Qi in Qi Gong, also "prana" in yoga and "mana" in Huna. They all refer to energy. In Reiki, the practitioner is a conduit for healing energy, directed through the hands. Some Reiki practitioners place their hands on the client's body, some hold their hands above the body. Reiki energy goes where it is needed in the body - the practitioner intuitively moves their hands from one place to another on or over the body, but makes no attempt to "direct" the energy to any place in particular. Reiki is experienced as very relaxing by most clients and over time can effect quite remarkable differences in health.

Reconnection Healing has some similarities to Reiki in that it is also channeling healing energy without attempting to direct it. The body will use it where it wants. However Reconnection Healing, developed by Dr. Eric Pearl, is a new form of healing energy. Dr. Pearl has achieved some remarkable healings with it, including watching congenital bone deformities grow to normal bone. I find it more powerful than Reiki. Those clients who are energy sensitive experience Reiki as gentle and integrative. They experience Reconnection healing as more obvious - obvious heat, obvious sensations of energy movement, definite tingling or "pins and needles" sensations. Moreover, although Reconnection healing is practiced with the hands above the body, the majority of healing energy is actually being channeled through the eyes

Holographic Repatterning and Body Talk share some common elements: they are both very elaborate healing systems, with very long and detailed protocols. The practitioner is obliged to work their way through the protocol using muscle testing to find what issues need to be worked on. Both rely on the body's innate wisdom to direct healing to specific areas, including emotional, psychological and spiritual issues. Both are highly effective. Holographic Repatterning works a great deal with core beliefs/core statements, and works on the principle that negative vibrations hold negative beliefs. Healing is aimed at raising the vibration to a level at which a positive belief can be held instead. Body Talk uses a wide range of techniques to heal whatever the body wants addressed. Both Body Talk and Holographic Repatterning are highly effective.

Polarity Therapy is basically a series of holds on the body that are designed to channel energy from one area to another. In other words, nothing is being added or brought to the client. It is the client's own energy that is bridged from one body area to another. It is specific for working on the chakras, the major energy vortexes that we have on our bodies. Each chakra relates to specific emotions and specific organs, so having a chakra in less than optimal condition spells trouble at some level. Stress, emotional and physical traumas all can disrupt the functioning of one or more chakra. In fact, nearly all chakra disruption is caused by emotional uproars. Chakras respond to healing quite quickly as long as the client is not still in the middle of a traumatic situation. Chakras respond well to vibration (I use tuning forks directing on the chakra), colour, crystals as well as Polarity Therapy.

Jin Shin Jitsu is a system of healing developed by Mary Burmeister, that uses pressure on various points on the body. These points are often close to but are not identical with acupuncture points. Jin Shin points are emotional "locks" - they bring emotional balance and calmness to a client. I usually start my healing sessions by pressing on about 6 or 7 different Jin Shin points because they are so incredibly relaxing for clients. It also gives the client time to talk about what they want worked on, as Jin Shin points can be pressed while we talk.

DNA/Theta Healing uses a specific technique to take the practitioner into a Theta mind state. In our normal awake state, our brain waves are primarily "beta" or approximately 13-30 cycles per second. A meditative state is primarily "alpha" or 8-12 cps. The Rapid Eye Movement stage of sleep (and the hypnotic state) is characterized by primarily Theta brain waves of 4-8 cps. Delta waves indicate deep, dreamless sleep. The meditative Alpha state is known to be more powerfully creative than Beta, and the Theta state is even more powerful. It is still commonly believed that people cannot enter a Theta state and remain conscious however quite a few individuals have proven (using a EEG machine that measures brain waves) that they can indeed put themselves into Theta and remain conscious - meaning they can choose what they do while in that state.

In DNA/Theta healing the practitioner puts themselves into a Theta state and then works on core beliefs, emotional traumas or physical issues. In theory, what the practitioner witnesses while in Theta is what will happen for the client. Some Theta healers are very adept at creating physical changes for their clients. Theta Healing was developed by Vianna Stibal, who used this method to heal herself of terminal bone cancer. She has gone on to create many healings. Some of her students are equally effective with it. I personally find it marvelous for changing core beliefs and some physical problems, but I haven't had spectacular success with physical healings - YET.

Emotional Freedom Technique is the most fun and impressive energy healing technique I've ever used. It is based upon the acupuncture meridians. Not everyone realizes that acupuncture meridians are each associated with a particular organ and each organ is associated with a particular emotion. For example, the liver is associated with anger and the kidney with fear. An acupuncturist named Roger Callaghan worked out a system of tapping various acupuncture points to help heal emotional traumas. Roger worked out a specific pattern of points to use for each different emotional trauma.

Then a man called Gary Craig simplified Roger's work considerably, using a basic pattern of tapping on the end points of each meridian, no matter what issue was being addressed. Gary called his technique Emotional Freedom Technique, because originally it was used to release troubling or traumatic emotions. However EFT practitioners found it was so incredibly effective and it worked so quickly, that they started experimenting with using it on anything and everything. EFT has proven itself effective in dealing with almost everything it has been used for. It is phenomenal at shifting negative core beliefs, traumatic emotional issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and almost anything you can think of that has an emotional component.

Okay - that's a very quick overview of some of the available healing techniques. It doesn't do justice to any of them but just introduces them. Which ones are suitable for which astrological patterns? I can offer the following observations from my clients:

Mars/Aries/First house dominant: like EFT because it is quick and its effects are obvious. Get bored with Holographic Repatterning or anything that doesn't work quickly enough.

Venus/Taurus/Second house dominant: usually like the hands on approaches such as Acupressure, Jin Shin Do, Jin Shin Jitsu, Cranio-Sacral, Polarity Therapy. May or may not like EFT - some are irritated by the tapping. React well to crystals and sound therapy. If they have problems with being touched they are better off with Reiki or Reconnection Healing.

Gemini/Mercury/Third house dominant: may be better with a system that can be explained in logical terms, such as EFT (which also has the advantage of having a spoken component!) acupressure and Jin Shin Do. Do best with interactive methods that keep them involved.

Moon/Cancer/Fourth house dominant: may do well with non-touch methods such as Reiki and Reconnection Healing until rapport and trust is established. Then will react well to all healing methods. Often extremely sensitive to energy, may experience strong reactions and may need a lot of support.

Sun/Leo/Fifth house dominant - especially enchanted with color therapy, crystals and enjoy the interactive nature of Body Talk and EFT. React well to Jin Shin and Cranio-Sacral and Polarity Therapy.

Vesta/Ceres/Virgo/Sixth House dominant: often have issues with being touched - use Reiki or Reconnection Healing until trust is established. Then they will react very well to EFT, crystals, and Cranio-Sacral and the Jin Shin Do or Jin Shin Jitsu. Work well with Holographic Repatterning and Body Talk because of the detail involved.

Pallas/Juno/Libra/Seventh house dominant: pretty accepting of everything but work most easily with the more interactive methods such as EFT, Cranio-Sacral ad Body Talk.

Pluto/Scorpio/Eighth house dominant: although most of my "Pluto" clients are very interested in every healing method, those few clients that I have that insist on a healing method that is completely non-intrusive and requires nothing from them, are very strong Pluto types. These clients work best with Reiki, Reconnection Healing and Theta Healing.

Jupiter/Sagittarius/Ninth house: seem to love everything but of course there is a special fascination with anything from a foreign country.

Saturn/Capricorn/Tenth house: usually better off with the methods in which something specific is done, such as Jin Shin Do, Cranio-Sacral, Jin Shin Jitsu, acupressure, Holographic Repatterning, Theta Healing, Polarity therapy, crystals or EFT. Most of my "Saturnian" clients are pretty open to everything but those clients that do not notice or cannot accept that they have improved always have a strong Saturnian component.

Uranus/Aquarius/Eleventh house dominant: interested in everything and willing to try everything but also intellectualize just about everything! Often have great difficulty identifying emotions and even greater difficulty connecting their emotions to their problems. Work well with everything if the practitioner is adept at redirecting them into their emotions.

Neptune/Pisces/Twelfth house dominant: open to everything and along with the other water signs, often the most fun to work with because they are so aware of energy movement. Some of these clients shift so fast in a healing session that it's hard to believe. Reiki and Reconnection Healing, Cranio-Sacral, and Jin Shin Do and Jin Shin Jitsu especially good as they are all so relaxing. Naturally attracted to crystals and color therapy.

This is just a quick dip into the possibilities, and a very general guideline to help you choose which healing techniques are likely to be most agreeable to which astrological type. Naturally there is no pure type, which is why all we can do is be aware of which healing modalities have elements that will appeal to particular signs and planets.

There is a whole smorgasbord of healing methods available out there, most of which fall into the category of "energy healing", almost all of which raise vibrations. In raising vibrations, the healing methods take a client into a healthier state. From that healthier state, the client may heal at any or all levels: physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. While all of the healing methods are effective in their own right, the practitioner who adds astrology into the mix has a definite edge when it comes to understanding the dynamics of a particular client!

Astrology has always been able to identify possible attitudes and weaknesses that could cause problems in one's life. What I hope you will take away from this series of articles is the realization that astrology has "stepped up to the plate" in a whole new way: it has proven itself useful when it comes to identifying possible core beliefs, both negative and positive. The energy healing techniques offer a way to heal the difficult placements and challenging aspects within our chart.
Energy healing and astrology are a natural partnership, each enhancing the other and providing the client with a more complete and effective healing experience.

Kay Meierbachtol and I will be elaborating on our knowledge of how to combine astrology and healing in the Astrology and Healing workshop October 16th.
