Horary Astrology

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Horary astrology answers specific questions from a chart cast for the date, time and place the question was received.

Ask the question BEFORE you invest the money!

The woman who asked this question is a long time client of mine. She is very aggressive, ambitious and well educated. She and her husband have enjoyed many business successes. In this case, she called to ask about a company in which she had already invested $50,000. It was a small business partnership of two men who did business on-line. She extolled the intelligence of the partners and was extremely enthusiastic about the whole thing. It is important to focus on the chart and not the opinion of the client. So the question was:

Should we continue a business relationship with the company?

The first thing to notice is the late degree of Leo on the ascendant. There is something "too late" about this situation. I took that to mean that she had already invested in the company. The planet ruling the ascendant is her significator; here it is the Sun. That represents her in this chart. Next we look at the Tenth House that represents the company she is asking about. How do we know it is that company and not some other one she may have invested in? Always assume that the chart knows only about what is asked in the question.

Taurus is on the midheaven. The ruling planet is Venus so that represents the company in this chart. First we look to see if her Sun and the company's Venus make any aspect to each other. They are both in the Ninth House, but in different signs. They are not brought together there. The Moon is a different story. It makes a series of two sextiles and then the situation heads south. The Moon's last aspect is a square to Venus. That is definitely a quick "No" answer to the client's question. The company is not in good shape, not with Venus in its detriment in Aries.

Uranus squaring the Nodes in the Fourth and Tenth Houses represents the partners in the company about whom she was so enthusiastic. I don't think any astrologer would share her high opinion of them. There are two rulers of the Seventh House and there are two partners. Mercury is retrograde and in horary charts indicates a change of mind. It can also mean facts withheld and lying if afflicted. The Moon applies to a sextile of Mercury and Mercury moves backwards to meet the Sun, called mutual application. It strengthens the aspect. I am not comforted because Mercury retrograde also applies to a square to Neptune. Since Mercury is so close to the MC, I am certain that there have been lying, misrepresentation and dark secrets on the part of the company.

The negative indicators in the chart surprised my client. I wasn't so sure but that she would ignore my advice and plunge ahead anyway. I filed the chart away with the idea of following up later to find out what happened. As it turned out, I did not have to follow up because she called me to report the bad news. One of the partners turned out to be a crook and embezzled the money. It bankrupted the company. The woman had a nervous breakdown over the whole mess and was under the care of a psychiatrist. Her significator, the Sun, makes a difficult square to Neptune in the house of her health, the Sixth House. The ruling planet of the Sixth, Uranus, opposes the ascendant. She should have asked the question before she invested the money and before it was too late.
