Horary astrology answers specific questions from a chart cast for the date, time and place the question was received.
My son, David, is a CPA. He has a private practice as a financial consultant. One of his clients is a lawyer. The lawyer's client was a young woman accused of embezzling approximately $30,000 from the company she worked for as a bookkeeper. David was hired to audit the books in an attempt to discover what really happened. The lawyer believed the girl was innocent of the charges.
The company's books were so disorganized that a true accounting was not possible. However, David did discover approximately $4,000 missing and was convinced that the bookkeeper was responsible for the embezzled funds. He was curious what a Horary chart would say about the matter. Since there would likely never be a true accounting of just how much money was taken, he asked the following question:
Is Sally substantially guilty? - Open

Moon's aspects: contra-parallel Venus, square Mars and parallel Neptune
David asked the question so the First House rules him. Virgo is the rising sign. My son has a Moon-Pluto conjunction in Virgo in his natal chart and the current transits were activating that in his Ninth House. His significator is Mercury, the ruler of the ascendant. We use the Seventh House for Sally as she has no relationship to him other than a person inquired about. David's significator placed in the Seventh House tells us that it is the correct house to rule her.
Sally is ruled by the Sun in Pisces along with the two rulers of Pisces, Jupiter and Neptune. We can be immediately suspicious when we see the Sun in Pisces leaving a square to Pluto hiding behind the fourth cusp. Our suspicions are further aroused when we also see the Moon leaving her ruler, Neptune. Added to that is her other significator, Jupiter, in the Twelfth House, the house of crooks and criminals, including embezzlers. In cases like this, the retrograde condition of the ruler is a negative testimony and indicates that the person is lying. It is clear that there has been some criminal activity in the past. Jupiter is usually well intentioned no matter how misguided. I wondered if this could be a "Robin Hood" situation where she took the money to help another person.
There is a mutual reception in this chart. Mercury and Mars are placed in each other's signs. This indicates that there is a way out and since Mercury rules David, he will be the one that will come to her aid. Mercury also rules the Tenth House, which casts doubt that this case will ever go to court. I also looked at the Tenth House to rule the business owner in this case. David also had interactions with him. Saturn in the Tenth House confirms that this is accurate.
Saturn is in its detriment sign in Cancer casting suspicion on the boss. It was discovered that the employer had filed a claim with his insurance company for a $30,000 loss. The actual amount of the missing funds was highly questionable. I felt that the employer would be inclined to negotiate a settlement for fear the insurance company would be alerted that his claim was perhaps inflated.
At this point nearly three months after the question was asked, Sally has admitted her guilt to her lawyer. David has presented his findings to the District Attorney. He submitted a report that the company's books are in such disorder that it would be very difficult to prove anything for sure. The DA's zeal to pursue the matter cooled considerably after that and the case has been dropped. The lawyer does not know if it will be re-filed. I believe that criminal charges will not be brought against Sally but that there will be a negotiated settlement between her and the owner of the company.
