QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Horary astrology answers specific questions from a chart cast for the date, time and place the question was received.

Will any negative consequences result from the social security application?

August 2004. Should the astrologer answer a question when it involves illegal activity on the part of the client? Ordinarily, I would not tell clients if it is a good idea to murder their mother-in-law no matter how big a pain in the neck she may be. Nor would I help bank robbers, embezzlers and other criminally inclined individuals. I made an exception in this case, however, for two reasons. The woman who asked is a long time friend and the illegal activity involved the Internal Revenue Service. She has not paid her taxes for seven years. Hatred of the taxman stretches back to Biblical times and maybe beyond. There is no love lost between the IRS and me and I have a lot of company. In case you are an employee of that organization, do not bother auditing me. I always pay all the taxes that I owe and I will not give you the name of my client. I claim the privilege of confidentiality enjoyed by priests, physicians and journalists.

Here is the situation with this month's featured client. The woman suffered a life threatening illness. She made very little money over several years and was unable to pay her income taxes. She must be flying under the radar because the IRS has never contacted her. Now she is at an age where she can apply for social security. At the application interview, she was told to produce her tax returns. Of course, she has none for the past seven years so she perjured herself and said she had not worked during that period of time. She wanted to know if any negative consequences would result from applying for social security.

This chart features two of the traditional strictures against judgment. One is Saturn in the Seventh House and the other is a void-of-course Moon. Horary astrologers in the past branded these charts as unfit to be read and deferred giving an answer. Most contemporary astrologers go ahead and read charts with strictures. However, it is imperative that the strictures are a priority consideration in judgment.

Saturn in the Seventh House was said to indicate that the astrologer made a mistake in calculations. My teacher, Mrs. Ivy Jacobson, said that things evolve, even in Horary astrology. With the advent of computers, the latitude for error is considerably lessened. I now interpret this stricture to mean that the interpretation should lean toward a more negative answer. Also, don't pin down the answer to too fine a point. Saturn rules dull things. It is better to avoid precise timing and details. The void-of-course Moon in a chart is one in which nothing happens. Matters come to nothing.

I could scare myself with Pluto retrograde in the First House, considering that Pluto rules taxes. I could worry about the t-cross with Pluto opposing Venus and squaring Jupiter, her significator. Mercury and Mars are in the Eighth House of taxes opposing Neptune in the Second House and squaring the Part of Fortune. I dismissed all of these indicators as representing her fears. The void-of-course Moon says that nothing will ever come of this matter. It is a dead chart. I told her to go ahead and collect the social security and let the application stand.

Should I call my Horary astrologer and ask if there are going to be any negative consequences for ME?
