Horary Astrology

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Horary astrology answers specific questions from a chart cast for the date, time and place the question was received.

A long time client asked this question. She declared bankruptcy about a year before. She was living with relatives and was eager to get back on her feet and live independently.

Woman asks: Should I rent the apartment?

I knew that this client was concerned about whether or not she could afford this apartment. She was nervous because of her recent bankruptcy. I started by noting the ascendant and its rulers that are always the significators of the person asking the question. The First House features Taurus rising making Venus her ruler along with the Moon that always co-rules the querent. The Fourth House rules the place she is considering. The Sixth House rules renting.

Venus finds itself in the Sixth House underscoring the validity of the chart as a question about renting. Horary astrologers like this sort of indication that the client is asking a serious question and the chart reflects that. There is another indication that the chart ties her to renting. Venus also rules the intercepted sign in the Sixth House.

Venus is not happy in the sign of its detriment. The conjunction to Mars and the square to Neptune in fixed signs are negative aspects and indicate that she is not in a position of power in the situation.

The Moon rules the Fourth House so we want to see if there is an aspect that ties her ruler to the ruler of the apartment. The Moon is in orb of a trine to Venus. Does this automatically give a heads up? Venus has more problems to worry about. The Via Combust Way is a section of the zodiac that includes 15 degrees Libra to 15 degrees Scorpio. Any planets there are subject to unpredictable misfortune.

The Moon has dignity in Cancer but applies to a square to Jupiter and ends with a conjunction to Saturn retrograde. The aspect to Saturn is especially worrisome. In and of itself, this rules situations that you can regret at leisure. The Moon's last aspect to a retrograde planet usually has some drawback. To make matters worse, Saturn is conjunct the Fourth House cusp. It is hiding in the preceding house, the Twelfth House to the Fourth. What secret problem is it hiding?

Whenever you have a chart with the Moon in the Third House, always consider that the person will change her mind. The Third House rules the conscious mind and making decisions. I told this client to go back to the apartment complex and take a closer look. She reported that the unit she was considering was closer to the freeway and the traffic noise was a problem. She chose another unit that was quieter.

I also noted that Mercury ruled her Second House but was in the Eighth House where we can begin to worry about debt and loss. Mercury is conjunct Pluto and the Part of Fortune that is the Part of Misfortune in the Eighth House. Jupiter rules the Eighth and that takes us back to its square from the Moon. I decided that she should not rent the apartment.

There is more to this story. Before I gave her the answer, she found another place she liked better but the rent was higher. She asked me a second question about that place. Mercury was retrograde in the second chart, which can mean a change of mind once again. When she backed out of that apartment, the manager countered with a lower price. That brought the rent to within $45 of the first place she looked at. I told her she could rent it if she really wanted to sacrifice to the bone. Believe me, she is not the sacrificing type!

How did the whole thing turn out? She backed out of both situations and completely changed her mind about renting. She continues to live with her relative. The only one to realize any good from this was the astrologer who got paid for two charts!
