Horary Astrology
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Horary astrology answers specific questions from a chart cast for the date, time and place the question was received.
WANNA SEE A REEEEALLY BAD CHART?
Or
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T LISTEN TO THE ASTROLOGER?
A woman asks: Should I buy the house? Open Chart in Separate Window.
My client was renting a house that she loved, but the landlord decided to sell it so she had to move. The house was listed at $400,000. My client did not have a real high paying job, but wanted to buy the house anyway.
The First House
The first thing to do when working with horary charts is to identify the HOUSES that are appropriate to the question. The First House always rules the querent, or the person asking the question. Aquarius is the rising sign with Neptune and Uranus retrograde in the First House. Unlike natal astrology, there are good and bad guys in horary and these two planets are considered malefics. There are exceptions but we will discuss that some other time.
Always take special notice whenever Neptune retrograde is closest to the ascendant in the First House. You can usually bank on the fact that the client is not seeing things clearly, is wearing rose-colored glasses and will make unrealistic decisions.
In actual practice, I considered two retrograde malefics in the First House as the answer right there, and that answer is 'No." That is a heavy affliction. Lets examine the remainder of the chart and see if that is confirmed or denied. There are some bad aspects to both of the First House planets
Uranus retrograde is applying to an opposition of both Sun and Mars.
This is called a mutual application because the retrograde planet
is moving closer to the aspect with the other two.
Venus is exactly quincunx Neptune retrograde
Venus is intercepted.
Jupiter is mutually applying to an opposition to Neptune retrograde.
Mars is in 22 degrees of Leo, called a no-win degree, a degree of powerlessness.
Venus has dignity in Libra but is detrimented (weakened) in the Eighth House
Worse yet, Venus rules the Fourth House of the property asked about
The Fourth House
Speaking of the Fourth House, lets take a look. It rules any property that a client asks about purchasing. The fourth cusp is in a very unfortunate degree. Twenty-nine degrees of Taurus is the place of the Pleiades, nicknamed the Weeping Sisters (and she will have plenty cry about). Note that the Part of Fortune is conjunct the fourth cusp from the hidden side and it too is with a very malefic fixed star in 25 Taurus, Caput Algol. That particular degree indicates one who has lost her head, and when the Part of Fortune is there, her money. Venus disposits the part of Fortune and there we go around the loop again. I remind you that the Eighth House rules loss and debt.
The Seventh House
What do those oppositions mean across the chart from the First to the Seventh House? These two houses rule the buyer and seller. When the aspects are bad, the two parties may come together anyway because even a bad aspect is still a connection between the two parties. It may be a bad idea but it can be accomplished.
The Moon and the Tenth House is a disaster
The Moon is always considered in every horary chart. It is her co-ruler. The Moon in the Tenth House is with Pluto and the lunar South Node. Do you know why that is so catastrophic? This is the rule. When a planet is in the degree of the Moon's nodes, it is a catastrophe no matter how great or small. Since it is Pluto retrograde that is in the nodal degree by conjunction, that planet favors the larger variety of catastrophe. Also, Pluto rules complications in general, but look out! When it is retrograde that is complications compounded. The Moon is just a little too close for comfort to this mess!
The Moon's last aspect is good or is it?
One of the factors to be judged in every horary chart is the last aspect the Moon makes from the sign it is in. That tells how the matter will end. The Moon's last aspect is a sextile to Uranus. That's good, isn't it? Sorry, that will not save this chart. Uranus is a retrograde malefic with nasty aspects. The Moon's reputation is ruined by the company she keeps. That is not a strong last aspect after all.
So what happened?
This woman ignored the astrologer's advice and purchased the property. She
thought she bought this house under market value (yeah, right) and could turn
around and sell it for a quick profit. She asked this question eight months
ago as I write this. The house still has not sold and she is considering bankruptcy.
She is an absolute nervous wreck. I just have to say, "I told you so."
