Jupiter in Libra

Retelling the love story…

Sept. 24, 2004 to Oct. 28, 2005

Jupiter's entrance into the mating sign of Libra is huge news, not only because it has taken twelve years to revisit this sign, but because it amplifies a most significant exchange and interplay between archetypical focal points.

Some key concepts for Jupiter in Libra: Relationship expansion: union, harmony, balance, fertility, competition, conflict, dependency, enmeshment; knowledge and growth through diversity of relationship dynamics - idealized or true love, friend or foe, united or divided, contrasting or complimentary, knowledge of the many within the one, or the one within the many. The truth of connecting; expanding who and what you know; widening your circle of contacts; friendly competition, freedom within partnership; open lines of communication, the teacher who is partner; marriage of opposites, marriage of compliments, vicarious extensions of another's beliefs or value systems; vicarious living through other, or through the wearing of masks, representations of self, multifaceted personalities, multifaceted personal expression, multi talents. Growth of creativity, finances, resources, potentials.

Pinning it down to the essential concept, Jupiter now expands on our relationship quest and experience, orienting through the sign of Libra, the mirror - the reflected other. The Libra archetype represents the projected and constructed persona - that which we view as outside of ourselves - the coveted and much sought after "other" - a deliciously alluring objective viewed as full of promise.

Prior to leaving the sign of Virgo, Jupiter makes contact with Mars, in the final degree of the sign - a powerful culmination and unleashing point. What is accessed and freed at this point will produce a seed in the subconscious. An infusion/impregnation of great potency will lie at some state of vibrant dormancy, to be triggered into release at key stages into the advancing levels of our personal, subjective and collective development. The experiences, feelings and perceptions of the moment are well worth noting as we are currently (as of the time of this writing) moving through this evolutionary gateway.

In what direction will Jupiter's arrows lead? Jupiter in Libra (sign of the balancing scales) represents the search for truth, love, and the knowing of self; the creation and enlarging of wholeness - all through the vehicle of relationship. The present north node completion through the sign of Taurus keeps a higher premium on getting personal needs (me first) met through this first portion of Jupiter's tour through Libra. For those of us who give in or give up too much, perhaps the combination of these influences offer a safeguard running start as we prioritize our own pleasure and needs. By the same token, we may want to evaluate those we are attracting by this same issue.

Mid November through most of December, Jupiter will team up with Neptune (by trine) for the first of three contacts, igniting the "beautiful dreamer" in all of us. We can fall very deeply in love, or we can get very lost and fall very deeply into our illusions. These two planets do suggest creativity and romance at its best. Inflation is another by-product. Leading into the Christmas/holiday season, the stars suggest a prosperous end to the year for those in sales and entertainment industries (restaurants and drinking establishments included). (Jupiter stays closely aligned with Neptune by trine through the start of 2005, reconnecting by exact aspect again mid March and mid August of 2005).

Starting in December Jupiter magnifies the south node pull (legacies of the past brought forward), opening the recall "request lines" even further. Jupiter's advancement through Libra will further implant that which we have recently visited - opening further the hopes, beliefs and versions of the truth currently being synthesized and anchored within our hearts - and increasing the physical experience of our circumstantial reality in order to give form to/further define and support our current theories and orientations. The Jupiter archetype expands the ambitious search to "move beyond" - to know/connect with the larger picture - the multi layered potentials sensed, perceived, and contained within.

Additionally Jupiter in Libra (and the south node activation), will recall from a more distant storybook - the historical connections of another time and place within our soul's experience - of past life "primaries". This recalling will be further amplified through the retrograde cycle, Feb. 2 to June 5, 2005 when we will experience a wider opening and replaying the past life dynamics. Relationships and circumstances that are energized during this time frame will indeed feel extremely familiar/have that intensified déjà vu awareness. Jupiter, ruled by Pluto in Sagittarius now, creates an added sense of restlessness and yearning to find that special lover (or passion) - perhaps even a "now or never" impulse that will hasten the journey. And with Mars as the ruler of the north node in Aries - the evolving forward "dance" - suggests that history can indeed be updated, rewritten and created anew.

As Jupiter increases our vision, (and especially through the sign of Libra) we will see more viable options and potentials. What we "see" - where we aim - is in direct proportion/tailored to what we desire. And what we desire is buried within the realms of the subconscious. Whether we make love or war within our deepest self, this will be reflected through our relationship accessing. Our sense of deserving, our safety around being (true to) ourselves, our need to be needed, our dependency issues, our receptivity, our sense of "there must be something more than this", our sense of fairness, harmony, equality and value associations, questions of loyalties and commitments, freedom and expansion urges, multiplicity, duality, contrasts, comparisons - all will be reflected through the vehicle of relationship. As Jupiter opens us up to relationship, it also opens us up to the range of relationships. Does one size fit all? Can everything you need be found within the one, or is there a romanticism about keeping your options open? Is there competition between how you need to love yourself/be free and the desire for union? These will be issues to be addressed as the nodes moves through the Aries/Libra axis. The need to create freedom and independence can see the unconscious attraction of those who meet some but not all of our needs, or who are not truly free as a way of guaranteeing an exit point. The diversity and introductory (cardinality) component of the Libra archetype can also suggest sexual experimentation, casual encounters or "flings", superficial or one sided relating (take without give, give without take).

Please bear with me as I recap the astrology for you. Libra is ruled by Venus, which in turn has been ruling the transiting north node through the sign of Taurus (also ruled by Venus) for these past 18 months. Venus, creator of form - the materialization of the soul's pre-existing programming codes will soon "flip" not only sign (Taurus to Libra) but also its nodal position as it prepares to resume its reign at the south, not the north node. (This flip begins at the end of the year when the nodal axis shifts into the Aries/Libra axis.) We will now be experiencing an intensification of the Venus archetype in its "outer" or projected expression, with its comparative resonance of relatedness and relativity. A vignette: "a recapping of the journey furthers the processing of previously traversed vistas, while adding new props to the scenery along the way." Note that while the nodal axis shifts, the eclipse season also shifts into Aries/Libra (starting in April of 2005).

The nodal axis has been traveling through the Taurus/Scorpio thread these past 18 months. Yes, survival of the fittest. What lives, what dies, what is reborn. For some it has been a complete overhaul/over turning/emptying out. When using Mars as the secondary or traditional ruler of Scorpio (the sign of the current south node), we can see the Venus/Mars relationship duo is about to swap positions across the nodal rulership axis. Mars, as lower octave of the Pluto, represents (among other things) the "surface" energizing and activating desires of the soul's continuously evolving mandate. ("Surface" as in "creating visibility" or breaking into present consciousness.)
The nodal axis represents the "warp and weft" of the reflected past and the projected future as experienced and integrated into the evolving present. What have we been energizing, accessing and heading toward in the past eighteen months? This personal unfolding is now woven into the background fabric of the subjective subconscious, as Venus seeks to create a stabilization regarding the new accessing/that which has been most recently introduced. Will the interplay of Venus (pre-existing/pre-experienced patterning) and Mars (contemporary and evolving desires) become a new anchor or an added weight in a lengthening chain? The choices made in the present are the deciding factor. Jupiter in Libra will teach us what we need to know.

Yes, love is in the air. Jupiter in Libra will indeed bring more and offer more. This is good news. Pluto's journey through Sagittarius (further emphasizing Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius) demands that we face both ourselves and others honestly, that we create a true reflection of ourselves for the world to view. A pinnacle will arrive by August of 2005 when Jupiter will make contact with the south node in Libra, bring to fruition and/or culmination contemporary experiences. By the time we cross this threshold, we will have added tremendously to the accessing. It is important to work toward this apex point by reflecting honestly and choosing wisely each step of the way. There is much to be gained and much to be shared. What price will you pay to achieve your heart's desires? Choose premiums you can afford to live with, and ones that will take you gracefully toward your desired tomorrows.
