September Talk Venus and Mars
Anne Massey will be presenting a talk on Venus and Mars—the tango between the two planets that represent our desires. Are your Venus needs being met? Are you in charge of your Mars? These two have an intricate cyclical dance and somewhere in that cycle we opted to enter life. This talk will be somewhat interactive, so you might want to check if you were born at night or during the day and what signs your Venus and Mars occupy. Anne’s talks tend to be jam-packed with information so a notepad and a pen might come in handy.
This image was generate with Sirius 1.1 and is the geocentric cycle of Venus and Mars… looks fascinating doesn’t it…

See you in September
Once again we are on our summer break, no programming in July and August. In September Anne Massey will be presenting a talk on the Tango of Venus and Mars. Amidst the big global changes to the landscape of our world, it can be illuminating to look at the interesting cycles of Venus and Mars that are ever-present in our lives. Mars will be spending 8 months in Virgo starting with November 11, 2011 and next year Venus has her second occultation in Gemini and will spend four months in that sign. Mercury will have a big role as the ruler of these two signs. The most recent cycle of the two began in sensual Taurus…
Mark your calendars for Rob Hand in October, and if you haven’t registered for his workshop and Friday night talk, check out www.astrologyguild.com/October2011.htm –an interview with Rob Hand will be posted on our site in July. Vancouver Riot
The riot apparently began after 1st period, which would have been around 5:45 pm or later but the media did not catch on as the game was in play (. It was in full swing until at least 11. 30 pm. (I when out for dinner as soon as the game was over, somewhere after 7 pm, perhaps 7:30 pm and there were no media reports at that time.)
Note the lunar eclipse Sun/Moon and south node contact to progressed Chiron on natal Vesta (protection, safety). The police were not on top of the situation. Read more »

Taurus enters the picture
We had a successful beginner workshop on Saturday and a delightful Thursday evening at the Guild. It was so inspiring to hear why our members choose to study astrology and how it has enriched our lives. On Saturday, Christine, Claire, Sukhwinder and Lidia elucidated the basic elements of astrology and I presented an overview of astrology and its many definitions. Dawn Muncaster also stopped by to answer student questions. It was truly a wonderful day. Thanks to our members and the new students who have all opted to join the Guild. We look forward to seeing you at our monthly talks. Our ‘season’ ends with June and resumes in September… Next month Denise Grams will be presenting a talk and workshop on family dynamics and we hope to see you there. See the post above or open the flyer for details. Read more »

A Wedding and an Election
Taurus month is well underway now, but if you are wondering where the extra heat is coming from, know that six planets in Aries will continue to keep the fires well stoked through mid month.
The wedding of the decade happens with passionate Mars teamed with the royal planet Jupiter. Perhaps many will be sick of the media overkill, but isn’t it good to have something hopeful and uplifting to capture public attention? Mars and Jupiter can be a bright promise aspect. They signal a new era, not only for the fresh faced couple, but also for the British monarchy.

Zodiac Stamps: Aries
Beginning March 21st, following the Spring Equinox, Canada Post begins it series on the Zodiac with the release of the first stamp in honour of Aries.
Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, heralds the beginning of a new year, the first day of spring, when the days and nights are of equal length. The symbol for the sign is the ram; the glyph drawn as the nose and horns of the male sheep.
Aries is concerned with new beginnings and people born under the sign often have a youthful quality much like the new growth of spring; they are filled with the sense of everything coming alive. Aries natives are outgoing, self-motivated, enthusiastic, full of drive and initiative. They can be decisive, charging ahead to take the lead, often acting spontaneously, on impulse. Like the Ram, Aries is adventurous and tends to seek out what is new, exciting, perhaps even dangerous. Aries can be foolhardy and reckless. Phrases such as “locking horns” or “the battering ram” might summon up an aggressive and confrontational approach, as Aries can be self-centred and not well versed in the art of negotiation. It is challenging for those with this sign to consider the opinions of others and change course once it has been set. Aries often becomes impatient when faced with slow downs, extra baggage, or diversions that stand in the way of their aims. Not known for patience, Aries experiences their needs with a sense of urgency that leaves little time for thought or reflection. Aries acts, steps forward into the unknown fearlessly and has a reputation for being courageous. Aries natives are often considered pioneers and natural leaders. The key phrase for Aries is “I am.”
The Aries stamp features the ram’s head in the foreground, with the constellation Bélier in the background. You can have a look at the stamp and read about the stamp’s design at the following link:

Order a booklet of 10 for $5.90, and the Official First Day Cover for $1.59. Collect all the First Day Covers to form a wheel of all the Zodiac Sun Signs.
The zodiac series of 12 stamps will be issued over the next three years. This year’s releases include: Taurus (April 21), Gemini (May 22), and Cancer (June 22.) In July, Canada Post also releases a souvenir sheet of this year’s 4 stamps.
I’ll try to post the link for each of the stamps to remind members about future releases.
