In 2008, we have four major events—four international speakers will be in town to present two talks and a workshop each. Mark your calendars: May 8-10, June 12-14, September 11-13 and November 13-15, 2008. Julie McBeth , from Australia will be in town in May to present two talks and a workshop before heading out to UAC. In June Maria K. Simms, another UAC presenter will be in town to present two talks and a workshop at the Guild. After our Summer break, in September, Stephanie J. Clement, author of ten astrology books, will be presenting two talks and a workshop at the Guild. In November, Chris McRae from Edmonton will be in Vancouver to present two talks and a workshop, and administering the ISAR competency exam on the Sunday. Chris is also lecturing at UAC next Spring. It is exciting to have so many world-class astrologers right here in town over the next year, and as a Guild member you can sign up at a significant savings for all four events: four Friday night talks and four workshops for $275.00; the four workshops for $250.00, when paid by March 15, 2008 . Each regular workshop fee is $90—4x$90=$360 ($70 with the early bird discount: 4x$70=$280)—you can realize significant savings while helping the Guild commit to bringing excellent astrologers to share their knowledge. The price for our senior members is $225, which buys you all four workshops and the four Friday night talks.
Each workshop to non-members $110, the Thursday night lecture has a drop-in fee of $8, and the Friday night talk drop-in fee for non-members is $20.
This workshop will cover the astrological basics of money and investing.
We will look at the finances of the individual – Where do you find your money in your chart? (And more importantly) When is it coming? What are your money houses and which planets are the money planets!
In the second half of the workshop we will look at the company chart. What do the houses represent in the company chart? Should you invest?
Finally we will look at WD Gann, whose financial market predictions (which are based on planetary cycles) made him millions during the depression of the 1930s. We will also cover corporate case studies such as the collapse of Enron.
Maria Kay Simms, a professional astrologer for over 30 years, is a former Chair of National Council for Geocosmic Research, Inc. (NCGR). She is certified CA NCGR in Consulting and PMAFA, and is a member of Association for Professional Astrologers International (MAPAI). Maria was educated as a fine artist (BFA, Illinois Wesleyan University ), and had a substantial early art career prior to her study of astrology beginning in 1973. She has also been active in related businesses, first as proprietor of a metaphysical bookshop, and later as the Art Director, then President of Astro Communications Services, Inc. in San Diego . She is the author of eight books, six of them currently in print: Dial Detective, Future Signs, Your Magical Child, The Witch's Circle, A Time for Magick and Moon Tides, Soul Passages. In late 2004, now living in New Hampshire , Maria started a new business, Starcrafts LLC, through which she is publishing books and art products based on paintings by herself and a daughter, Molly Sullivan. Maria's astrological techniques are practical but also strongly influenced by metaphysical concepts and by her spiritual path as a Wiccan High Priestess. She emphasizes the power of personal choice.
Maria has found, from her experience, that no one single factor in a chart carries more interpretive power toward understanding the flow of life than natal and progressed Moon, her natal and progressed lunar phase cycle, and her relationship to Earth and Sun in eclipses, prenatal and transiting. Moon Tides, Soul Passages, Maria's recent critically acclaimed book and software combination, will be introduced with a colorful Power Point show filled with art and photography, designed to evoke both intuitive and basic understanding of lunar signs and phases. Then, following a demonstration of a few example Moon Tides software reports showing lifetime lunar phase cycles of public figures, we'll work with individual reports of participants, and close with a meditation based on the current lunar sign and phase.
