Uranus moves into Aries
“WHEN YOU DISCOVER YOUR MISSION, YOU WILL FEEL ITS DEMAND. IT WILL FILL YOU WITH ENTHUSIASM AND A BURNING DESIRE TO GET TO WORK ON IT.”—W. CLEMENT STONE
We live on a natural flight path; eagles, hawks, gulls, crows, swallows and sparrows fly above and I am able to catch glimpses of the more exotic ones once every few days. Today I saw a hawk, a young one testing out his wings. It is also the wind alley behind our north-facing back door. Anything that flies through the air is associated with the element of air. Air is about flights of fancy, ideas, logic, rationality, thinking, speaking, writing, and expressing our thoughts. That young hawk reminded me about the upcoming changes. The ones that begin this month are with us for seven years. This is therefore a process not a singular event.
Uranus or Ouranos, the sky god is changing residences. Over the past few months, and especially over the past month or so, most of us have felt very distracted—too many irons in the fire or being stretched too thin, faced with too many obligations, etc.—the words you choose tend to reveal your elemental make-up. There is a lot of de-cluttering that must be done when we get ready to move, and that is what the big move Uranus is about to make is creating for each one of us; an urgent need to clear up space, finish things and get ready for the next seven years. Electional Astrology In April

April 14, 2011 at 7:30PM
Electional Astrology holds particular intrigue and fascination for Claire Morriss, and naturally she is not alone. We all want to know the good, better and best times for important events in our lives. Her presentation will include an overview of Electional Astrology, rules for setting up a chart and examples of charts for various situations.
As a teenager, Claire Morriss developed an interest in astrology. Since then, she read numerous books on the topic to expand her knowledge. When the opportunity to enroll in an astrology course came along, she seized it with gusto. December 1979 marked a new chapter in her life when she emigrated from her native South Africa. Claire applies what she has learned in working as an educator with the many students she has taught over a period of twenty years in Canada and Australia. Read more »
Uranus in Aries Rountable
Join us March 10, 2011 at 7:30PM to discuss the impact…
The outer planets spend a long time transiting any one sign. Uranus spends about 7 years in a sign, Neptune 14 years, and Pluto – spends an average of 21 years in a sign. As many people share the same sign placement of the outer planets at birth, they can be descriptive of and common to a whole group of people. They are often associated with themes and experiences which are universal. For these reasons, the outer planets are often termed collective, transpersonal and generational.
We’re getting together for a round table discussion regarding the significance of Uranus transiting Aries on March 10th. Janice Brown, Denise Grams and Charlotte Greenwood each present an introduction to get the conversation started. Bring your charts, notes, and any important points you’d like to share. This promises to be an engaging evening. Read more »
Astrology News Service
A news service for astrology was officially launched yesterday. It is a joint undertaking by the major astrological organizations in the US, the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR), the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR), the Association for Astrological Networking (AFAN), and the American Federation of Astrologers (AFA). The site has several articles about astrology’s role in society. I just spent an hour reading articles intended to educate the media and students of astrology. The site is www.astrologynewsservice.com. Naturally there are several articles that address the recent media frenzy about how we astrologers should add one or more signs to our zodiacal signs. “The recent media flap that had astronomers inventing a new astrological sign and dredging up dated anti-astrology polemics to tweak believers is another example of scientists behaving badly, a Philadelphia-area science historian believes.” Read his post. Stephen Forrest writes about the role of astrology and Richard Tarnas discusses the role of astrology. Check it out, the commentary about the Zodiac and Constellations by Diana K. Rosenburg and you might just find the right words to explain the power of astrology to your friends and clients; many of them after all only wish to know if their sign changed overnight.

Have the heavens changed
- Western or tropical astrology uses the Zodiac signs not the constellations as astronomers now define them.
- Copernicus—the father of the Scientific Revolution— was not only a Canon of the Catholic Church, but also a doctor, astronomer and a court astrologer.
- Rest assured this item for the latest 24-hour news cycle is not about to change a system of knowledge and wisdom that predates Christianity.
This new astrological constellation according to astronomer Parke Kunkle, who began the current sensational story, isn’t new. Astrology, absolutely is antiquated, the surviving astrological texts date back about 2,000 years. The authors of that era refer to ancient astrologers, so we can make an assumption that astrology is far older. Astrologers use the names of the constellations; however, these are names for the signs and are not directly linked to the constellations. Ancient astrologer-astronomers knew about it, and decided that it did not occupy an adequate length of the Ecliptic to warrant an immortal space on the band of animals. Rest assured this item for the latest 24-hour news cycle is not about to change a system of knowledge and wisdom that predates Christianity.
The story gone viral today and entering the 24-hour news cycle is about how the fixed stars have moved and now everything is off kilter—astrology with its 12 signs is antiquated, out of touch with reality and should now change the whole field of knowledge. We might still think that the Earth is the centre of the Universe and the Sun, the one and only star in the solar system, revolves around the Earth. That changed when Copernicus published his book. Incidentally he was not only a Canon of the Catholic Church, but also a doctor, astronomer and a court astrologer. Read more »

How to Live With Karma
Thursday, February 10th, 2011 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
What is your Karma? Do you think karma is distributed equitably? It isn’t. However, we can define and measure it with astrology. Our relationships are fated or karmic. Were you made for each other or could you choose to skip a relationship knowing that you might meet your wife, brother, student, gardener or… murderer from a past life. How might you deal or not deal with this? Life is fascinating as is astrology; let’s discover something new about the past.

Our Annual 20th Potluck
Every December we hold a potluck at the Guild. This is a wonderful opportunity for our members to socialize, share readings using astrology and divinatory tools. For the past few years we have also had a gift exchange with a twist. Wrap up a White Elephant, meaning something you wish you could re-gift, don’t know why you ever bought it or no longer want to house at your home. Naturally you can also go shop for one… This year we are also trying out a ‘clothing exchange’—an outfit or garment that if you had the time you’d take to a consignment store. So bring along that clean jacket, outfit, scarf, etc. and pin its size on the front and see if you can find something to take home from another’s collection. We are also playing astrological chairs… Bring something for our potluck table, your tarot cards, runes, or your chart for shared readings.
