Diploma Astrologers graduate in Canada
I just returned from Toronto where we had major celebrations for the first diploma astrologers. Many local students and members of the Guild have written standardized CAAE exams over the past 5-6 years, and my hope is that we will also have a graduation ceremony here in 2010. I feel this was a major milestone for astrologers and students of astrology in Canada. I was honoured to be invited to talk to the graduates in the beautiful setting of the Victoria University. Congratulations on behalf of the Fraser Valley Astrological Guild. Read more »

Saturn in Libra by Anne Massey
“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”— John Quincy Adams
Saturn is the last planet visible to the naked eye. The seasons on Saturn last about 7.5 years—on August 11, 2009 there was an Equinox on Saturn. I would assume Autumn seeing that Saturn is in the autumnal signs now. The picture I have used here was taken by Cassini at our Equinox in September 2009.
New images reveal that there are mountains on the rings of Saturn. These are as high as some of the peaks in the Rocky Mountains, which are 4800 kilometres in length and stretch from New Mexico via Montana, Utah, and Colorado to British Columbia and Alberta. I always remember a drive through Colorado and the awe of seeing the majestic mountains; and I don’t ever tire at looking at the mountains here in British Columbia. The scientists are calculating that the mountains on the rings of Saturn are up to four kilometres high (that’s about 2.5 miles). See the images at http://ciclops.org/ir_index/118/Cassini_In_Orbit
In astrology rocks and mountains belong to Saturn; it is fascinating that there are actual mountains up there. It makes me wonder what the ancient astrologers/astronomers knew that we are now rediscovering through science and space exploration. Read more »
Mars Review by Anne Massey
Mars moved into Leo on October 16, 2009 and will stay in that sign until June 6, 2010. During October 2009-May 2010 Mars will move through the first 20 degrees of Leo three times. First forward to the almost the 20th degree from October 16-December 20 and then backward or in reverse gear from December 20-March 10. Think of driving your car in reverse all the way to work or to the grocery store. Not as easy and driving forward right; we would have to pay more attention and have so many hazards along the way. Mars then moves forward the second time through the same stretch of zodiacal terrain from March 10-May 16. This one qualifies for the most déjà vu moments—knowing that you have done this before and with a more fated feeling. Read more »
The Story of Astrology November 12
The Art of Astrology has a rich and fascinating history which weaves its way through every major culture of the past 4 millennia. Join Charlotte as she covers this vast topic by telling the stories which illustrate Astrology’s role through the Ages.

Awaken Our Conscious Mind
Phyllis Chubb, MA, a long-standing member of the Guild, has published a book filled with a life time of studying the human experience.
Consciousness has usually been linked to individual awareness, however it has recently been proven to be much more than simple awareness. In fact it has been proven that consciousness marks life itself. Consciousness, which is part of the submicroscopic world, has constant and direct influence on all aspects of the material world. Consciousness has the power to impact and span time and distance, and further, that consciousness can be seen in the form of light.
Phyllis’ website is www.phyllischubb.com and you can order the book directly from her. Phyllis also launched a blog at http://phyllischubb.blogspot.com
I look forward to reading Phyl’s observations, I expect it will be like talking to her, which I always enjoy.
Hellenistic Astrology Applied October 8
Hellenistic Astrology Applied
Ancient concepts can enrich our astrological understanding, but they serve little purposes unless we learn how to apply them to our contemporary understanding of our rich subject. The simplicity of some of the analysis is beautiful, however, choosing the tools that work can be challenging. Anne Massey will introduce a few simple concepts that you can apply instantly and a few more that may take a bit of extra study. Send your birth data in by September 30, so you will have your Hellenistic chart to refer to during this talk. Email anne@astrologicallyspeaking.com
Anne’s talk follows the AGM, which begins at 6:30PM. Please choose to attend and be heard about the plans the executive has for 2009-2010. Your voice matters. The Guild was founded in 1991 and we begin our 19th year of operations.
Mercury Rx
Mercury is in Libra August 25 to September 17, and in Virgo the rest of the month; Mercury is retrograde September 6-29, 2009. This particular Mercury period August – mid-October involves work/chores and public services and relationships/negotiations, promising many twists and turns, reneging of promises after September 6, things simply begin to go in the opposite direction.
The retrograde dates are not ideal for beginning or committing to something new, if it was in the works prior to the dates that becomes a mute point. If travelling, ensure that you have appropriate insurance. Be a little more flexible when appointments and meeting dates are moved. Keep receipts for purchases handy for the ‘return season’. I always avoid major purchases during that time. Read more »
